Sun, Sand and Lobster – Out & About in Padstow with Apollo Cornwall

Situated on Cornwall’s wilder North coast, Padstow is a harbour town best known as a foodie haven, with long sandy beaches, wide ocean vistas and go-to restaurants.

Arriving by train into Bodmin Parkway, your meet and greet taxi service will take you in comfort to your accommodation, without the stress of parking in this small but bustling fishing port.

Padstow is ideal location to base yourself for adventures on the north coast and further inland, booking a private tour is a good way to explore along the Atlantic Highway, stopping off at breath-taking white sandy beaches, from the well-known Harlyn Bay, where a visit to “The Pig” is a must for lobster lovers, and Polzeath a mecca for surfers and those looking for an activity filled getaway, to lesser known tucked away spots , Hawker`s cove being one of my favourites.
For fans of the show Doc Martin, a private hire car can take you to Port Issac, where you can join a guided tour of the village spotting famous sights from the show and enjoy good food before being driven back along the coast for some amazing sunset views.

A taxi can take you out to Tintagel, where after enjoying a hearty breakfast at King Arthur’s Café, and a wander through the village, a visit to the castle is a must. Explore the history of the site, and perhaps brave the spectacular new bridge to take in the unforgettable views from the clifftops maybe spotting seals playing in the water and the teeming bird life. Heading down to sea level you can explore the sandy beach and venture into Merlin’s Cave. For those wanting a slightly livelier pace, book a taxi into Newquay, a short 10-mile journey away to enjoy surf culture by day, and the towns vibrant night life with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, a particular favourite being The Stable above Fistral Beach, enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic.
